Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to measure your window size, depending on whether you’re doing an inside mount or outside mount:
For Inside Mount (Blinds/Shades fit inside the window frame):
1. Width Measurement
- Measure the inside width of the window frame at 3 locations:
- Use the narrowest measurement.
2. Height Measurement
- Measure the inside height of the window frame at 3 locations:
- Use the shortest measurement.
3. Depth Check
- Measure the depth of your window frame to ensure the shade or blind can be mounted inside. A minimum depth of 75 mm (3 inches) is recommended for a proper fit and clean look.
For Outside Mount (Blinds/Shades cover the entire window frame):
1. Width Measurement
- Measure the width of the area you want to cover at 3 locations:
- Add at least 50-75 mm (2–3 inches) on each side of the the widest measurement for better light control and coverage.
2. Height Measurement
- Measure from where you want to mount (above the window frame) to where you want the blinds to end at 3 locations:
- Add 50-75 mm (2–3 inches) on the the longest measurement above the window for mounting space.
📏 Tips:
- For better blackout, choose outside-mounted shades.
- Use a steel tape measure for accuracy.
- Always measure each window separately—even if they look the same.
